WEEK OF OCTOBER 8TH

This week was the old testament quiz. If your student did not pass, they need to write the books out by memory or verbally tell you them. Then send in a signed note saying the student succeeded. Thank you for your help.

The middle school retreat is the week-end of October 17-19th. Registration and money is due on October 12th.

This week the journal is number 4. Students should be working on learning building block #1.

The middle school retreat at Portage Lake is October 17-19. The flyers were passed out at Core. Registration forms and scholarship applications are available from the Forest Park Student Ministry page of the website.

The Old Testament Books quiz is next week. October 8. You should be working on Journal session 4.

Core is finished for this school year. Congratulations to all second year students for your successful completion of Core. We are all very proud of you!

There is a Sunday School class for all 7th and 8th graders during the 9:45 hour through July in the Core classroom. (no Sunday School on May 25 or July 6)

This week is Core Sunday for the second year students. Congratulations to all of you! Thank you for sharing your papers on Sunday. It was great to hear how God is working in your lives.
Second year students- please be in the Core room by 9:30 on Sunday. You will enter the sanctuary as a group. Following your recognition and the prayer time, you will be excused to the Core room for a breakfast given by your leaders. You will attend the entire third service. There will be a cake reception following the third service. People will want to take pictures, so stick around for that! Remember - dress nicely and no flip-flops, please!
First year students - there will be a class just for you on Sunday in the room at the very end of the CF wing. Sorry, the breakfast is just for second year students.
You all did a great job on your exams and getting all of your work finished.

We hope that you all enjoyed your spring break.
This Sunday, April 20 is the FINAL EXAM! If you study the review sheet you won't have any trouble with the exam. Remember, second year students, you will need to write your personal testimony as part of your exam.

ALL LATE WORK IS DUE SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next week, April 27, the second year students will be sharing their testimony with first year students and parents for the first half of the Core hour.
Starting at around 10:30, there will be an important meeting for all students and parents going to Milwaukee.

May 4 is Core Sunday for all second year students. All the details were included in the letter sent to parents before spring break.

April 6 and 13 are weeks to get all of your late work finished. There will be leaders in the Core classroom ready to help you each week.
If your work is done, come to the Core classroom to make signs for the Garage Sale and to watch a movie.
Dr. Sutton will be doing interviews on April 13.

The final exam will be on April 20.

This Sunday, March 30, Brian Nanninga, our candidate for Pastor of
Student Ministries will be preaching at all three services. He will meet with all students in grades 5-12 in the Student Center from 9:45-10:00. Core will start at 10:00.

All work is due this Sunday!!!!
This week in class you will work on the review for your final exam.

Dr. Sutton will start student interviews.

A letter will be sent next week with the end of the year Core schedule.

You are almost there!!! Keep up the good work. It will be worth it!

We hope to see all of you at the Auction. We need helpers on Friday from 5:00-6:00 to help set tables, and we need your help on Saturday during the Auction starting at 3:30. Please wear white shirts and blue, black or navy pants for working during the Auction.
Remember that you can use this time for service hours or for money towards the mission trip.
We need all of you to donate baked goods for the bake sale.

On Sunday you will have your last lesson - #30. Please work hard at getting all of your requirements finished. You will be taking Building Block quiz #26 on Sunday.

All of you will need to schedule an interview with Dr. Sutton or Mr. Anderson. These will last only about 5 minutes and are a time to talk about what you have learned this year in Core. They will be held on March 30, April 13, and April 20. Please check with your parents to find out which Sundays you will be here. We will have sign ups for the interviews on Sunday.

Hang in there! You have almost made it!!! The lesson this week covers the Covanant Church. Your journals should be completed through session 29 this week. You will take Building Block quiz 25.

Please sign up to work at the Auction. We need you to help set tables on Friday, March 14 from 5:00 - 6:00 pm, and to wait on tables during the Auction on March 15. Please report to the student center on March 15 by 3:30 dressed in white tops and black, navy or khaki pants.

We also need you to offer a service such as lawn mowing, dog sitting, etc. All students are also asked to bring a baked good for the bake sale.

Parents, we need your help at the Auction, too. Please sign up on the board in the Fellowship Hall.

If you were unable to attend the retreat, we will have a couple of make-up sessions in the next few weeks. They will be during the 11:00 hour.

The Core Retreat is this weekend, February 22-24. Please be at church by 5:30. Remember to bring all of your Core materials, snow clothes, and $5.00 for dinner. We will return by 12:30 on Sunday.

Next week, March 2 your lesson will cover Journal Sessions 26 and 27. You will have a quiz on Building Block 24.

The Core year is winding down fast. If you are behind or were not able to attend the retreat, we will offer some make up sessions after the Core hour on Sundays.

If you are going on the Milwaukee trip in June, you can earn money towards your trip by working at the Auction. Sign-up sheets will be in the Core room.

This is week 18 of Core already! Dr. Sutton will help us understand what it means to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
You should be learning building block 22 for this week's quiz, and completing your journal lesson 18.
Project 3 is due next Sunday, February 10. Your retreat permisison slips and payments are due next Sunday also. (Scholarship applications are on the bulletin board in the hallway. If you need to apply for a scholarship, please turn your application in to Mrs. Kamps by Feb. 10 also.)

Thanks to all of you who worked at the Chili/Brownie Cook-off! We made $500. Mrs. Wheeler will tell you what you each earned on Sunday. The amount you earned depended on how long you worked.

Dr. Sutton will be back to lead Core this Sunday. Be ready to take building block quiz 21 as soon as you arrrive.

How are your projects coming along? They are due in just two weeks, on February 10!

This Sunday, January 13 you will be on Lesson 15 and Journal session 15. You will have a quiz on building block 19.This week your parents will be sent progress reports for Core. Please get caught up if you are missing assignments.
Please sign up to work at the chili/brownie cook-off which is Saturday, January 19. Invite your families and friends to the cook-off.

Project #3 (the last one for the year) is due February 10. This is a community service project. You can do this with a group and it counts for your service hours!

There was a mistake on the retreat permission slip. The cost for the retreat is $82.
